Vaulter and Photographer

I’ve Always been a vaulter and now I’ studying photography in Brescia. Someday I would love to specialize in sports photography to put together my two biggest passions. I started vaulting at the age of four and never quit since then. It has always the most important part of my life and I’m excited to put it together with what I hope will be my job in the future. I am also a vaulting trainer and a mental coach.

Ilaria Luna

Student and vaulter

I am a high-school student at Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C. and an equestrian vaulter with the “Great Falls Vaulters” team, currently competing in the 2* Young Vaulter category. I have been vaulting since the age of ten and have had the wonderful opportunity to train in the United States, Italy, France and the Netherlands. From these interactions with different countries came my desire to create international connections in the vaulting world. The Vaulting Review is the ideal platform, as it allows me to combine my love for this exciting sport with my interest in languages and writing. As the U.S. correspondent, I share with readers of all ages news about events and people that relate to my vaulting experience. It is a privilege to be able to give global visibility to this fabulous and still little-known equestrian discipline.

Veterinary

I graduated in veterinary medicine in Parma University with dissertation on “diagnostic imaging of the horse’s spinal disorders”. My areas of interests are sports medicine, dogs and horses’ rehabilitation, ethology and animal reproduction. Ever since I was a kid I loved everything that had to do with animals, and especially with horses and dogs. As soon as I had the chance I started horse riding, a path that fascinated me and led me to compete in the Olympics disciplines. I first came in contact with Vaulting thanks to my first trainer, who had English roots and used the disciple as a way to give her pupils the right set up and confidence on horseback. I took the chance of The Vaulting Review because I think it could either be of great technical help to those who already practice this sport and at the same time give motivations, clarifications and incentives to those who would want to approach Vaulting for the first time.

Today, besides my ongoing competitive activity I’m also a judge in training. With The Vaulting Review I can conciliate my passions and, hopefully, helpt to spread this amazing discipline. Besides vaulting, my interests are also cinema and writing.

Lawyer

I’ve always been passionate about all sports, I approached the equestrian world thanks to my family’s passion for it. I immediately loved vaulting, that I think is extremely educational and fundamental in the relationship with the horse. For years, following my daughters competing, I documented through videos the most important competitions, either national and internationals. I enthusiastically took the challenge of The Vaulting Review, making my experience available.

Photographer

Professional photographer since 1990 and member of WDPA. At work I curate photographic and graphic designs on the advertising for some major internationally renowned breeders. Official photographer of national and international events, I also collaborate with Italian and foreign magazines. I always loved animals and I approached the equestrian world following my husband agonistic career. Along with him, I became a Border Collie breeder myself, as it is a dog known for its intelligence and sports skills. Looking for a sport to help the education of my children, I approached Equestrian Vaulting, which I think creates a good union of efforts, elegance, sacrifice, perseverance and horse care.

Teacher

I’m an astronomy graduate and I teach math and physics at High School in Treviso (Italy). I’ve always been sporty, as a kid I practiced a lot of different sports, but I especially liked dancing and gymnastics. I got close to the equestrian world as an adult, but if I had knew vaulting as a child, I’m sure it would have been my sport! As a teacher my motto is surely “mens sana in corpore sano” and I like to think I can identify immediately those of my students who practice sports on a competitive level.

Web designer

I’m a professional web designer and SEO, former rugby player, sportsman and proud father to a young vaulter. Thanks to her I got to know this beautiful discipline, that was unknown to me until two years ago. I was soon infected by my daughter’s love for Vaulting and became an enthusiast myself, so I joined the group of friends and professionals of The Vaulting Review to give my contribute on the “digital matters” and help the spread of the discipline.
